Frequently Asked Questions

If your question hasn't been answered below, please get in touch with as much information as you can provide using the form on my contact page.

Where are you based?

I am primarily based in London, but I have friends and family all over the UK and Europe and love to travel to new places. I do not currently have my own fixed studio/office base as I prefer variety and interesting scenery in my images. For maternity shoots where we have decided to shoot at my home, I'm in north London.

How does payment work?

The deposit must be paid via bank transfer to my business account. I do not accept PayPal. Your shoot date is not confirmed and held for you until you’re notified that this payment has been received. The remaining amount should be paid either on or prior to the day of the shoot – this can be via cash or bank transfer.

How many outfits can I shoot?

I do not have outfit limits, but I would advise sensibility around the time booked and factoring in time spent setting up the camera/lighting, changing outfits, moving to a different spot/location etc. and any potential hair and make-up touches you might want to make in between. In order to come away with images that you’re truly happy with, rushing is not recommended. If you insist on rushing through too many looks in a short time frame, I cannot guarantee that the outcome will be as desired. For general guidance, I would recommend 2-4 outfits for a short shoot, 4-6 outfits for a half day shoot, and 6-8 outfits for a full day.

How can I prepare for a shoot?

I will send a shoot prep guide to you via e-mail with lots of advice and guidance on preparing for a shoot, from maintaining energy to beauty tips and wardrobing styling.

I have never done a shoot before - will you help me with posing/directions?

I know how intimidating it can be the first time you step in front of a camera, but rest assured there is no pressure on you to be a professional model. I have plenty of experience in directing with posing, and will give you clear guidance in order to get a good variety of images that are both flattering and fun. The most important part is mindset - try to relax as much as you can and embrace the cringe. If you watch a professional model on set, the only difference between them and most other people is that they don't feel embarrassed about looking strange or awkward, because they know the outcome will be worth it.

Can I keep my images private / will you share images from my shoot?

I will only share your images to proudly promote my work with you on my website and social media accounts if you give me permission to do so. You can choose for that to be a particular selection of images, choose to only allow images where your face/identity is hidden, or none at all - whatever your preference. There is no obligation or pressure.

Nobody except you and I will see your un-retouched images, and I do all editing and retouching alone, so there are no third party editors to worry about if privacy is a concern. Your RAW and edited images will be stored securely on a password protected hard drive. I tend to only keep original files for 12 months for portrait client shoots - just in case extra edits are requested further down the line - then I remove them from my storage. I will only keep edited copies of images after this 12 month period if you have permitted me to use them on my website/social accounts.

How long will it take to receive my images?

For a short shoot, my turnaround is 4 days, and for longer shoots, 7 days. This is for the standard culling and editing of the full selection of images. If you need the images back sooner, there is the option of paying a rush fee of £100 to receive the selection within 48 hours of the shoot ending.
If you have requested further retouching, these will take a little longer. For 10 images or less, my turnaround time is 10 days. For 11-30 images, my turnaround time will be 2-3 weeks depending on the extent of the editing required and my schedule at the time that they're requested.

I request that image selections for extra retouching be sent to me within 10 days of the shoot so that I can prioritise you and work my schedule around it. Any requests sent later than this may be pushed back while I prioritise delivering other work on time.

What if I want to extend the booking time on the day of our shoot?

You might decide that you want to make the most of the location, or haven’t managed to shoot as many outfits as you’d hoped. If I have the time in my schedule to be able to accommodate this, and the location we're in allows for it, I will always try my best to be flexible. The time extension will come at a cost of an extra £50 per hour, and this will need to be paid for on the day before continuing past our original booking time. Additional retouched images will cost £30 each, or £150 for 6.

Where can I find good locations?

We can discuss locations based on what kind of shoot you have in mind during the booking process. Natural light is always preferential, so if you’re looking for somewhere indoors, big windows or other natural light sources are a high priority. I do have lighting that I usually bring with me just in case we need to compensate for a dark room or overcast day.

I have great knowledge of London streets and parks and some more natural spots around the UK if you’re keen to shoot outdoors, and I love to find and share cool locations and landscapes further afield if you're interested in arranging a more adventurous travel shoot.

What kind of retouching do you provide?

Depending on the type of shoot package that you book, the final edits you receive will vary from simple Lightroom edits to full retouching.

I cull the images, make colour corrections, fix exposure/light/shadows and add my own colour grading as standard. I then remove distracting background elements, and any temporary blemishes or bruises if required.

For packages where you have paid for additional skin retouching, my preference is for a natural look that complements your features, as you can see in my gallery of images. I want the images to represent you, not to be so heavily edited that my subjects look like AI. I can make slight tweaks to body shape and remove small tattoos if required, but I will strictly only do this if you ask me to with clear directions about what you want on each picture.

I strongly advise that anything needing to be hidden is done so via outfits and posing. Removing larger tattoos will require quite a lot more editing time and will make it harder to maintain overall natural looking skin texture, so I will charge extra for this and let you know if there is anything that cannot reasonably be done. We can discuss this during the booking process and during the final image selection to ensure that we’re on the same page and that you get the desired result.

I don’t see a package that fits what I want. Do you offer any other services?

The listed packages provide a great framework to work with and to base fees and expectations on, giving you an idea of what can be achieved and with what budget. I do not negotiate lower rates than those advertised, however if there is something specific you have in mind I would be more than happy to hear from you. I will gladly offer bespoke rates for bespoke services if I feel we’re a good fit to collaborate.

With regards to mixing the themes, the packages have the same pricing, timing and deliverables across the board, so that if you want to combine both boudoir/intimate portraits and lifestyle/editorial, you can happily do a bit of both within one shoot providing the time and locations allow us to do so.

Do you shoot for brands or individuals?

I mostly shoot for myself and individuals, however if you are a brand or business looking to schedule a shoot with me, please get in touch and we can discuss rates, taking into account the type of usage you would require.
Images that I shoot for individuals with the listed packages on my website will give you rights for personal use only, and cannot be used for editorial publication or for commercial use, i.e. to promote a brand via paid social media ads or be featured in a magazine. If you're a business and this is something you require, it will incur and additional usage fee.

What happens if something comes up and I have to cancel/reschedule?

Accidents happen, people get sick, or something falls through and it’s out of your control – that’s life, and I understand how frustrating it can be. The deposit ensures that I am protected as a freelancer – I turn down other paid work to accommodate your shoot, so if you do have to cancel I will likely lose out on income.

If you're able to provide more than 72 hours notice of a cancellation, we can reschedule the shoot for another date using the same deposit. Any later than this, and it will be too late for me to book another client for your original shoot date, so your deposit will be retained. If you want to re-book, the deposit will need to be paid again.

If I have booked a location on your behalf, the refund/cancellation policy will depend on the location provider's terms, therefore I will not be able to refund this fee to you if we are outside of their cancellation window.

What happens if you have to cancel/reschedule?

In the extremely rare event that I need to cancel or reschedule our shoot, I will offer you the option of other dates that we could shoot on, or return your full deposit to you, whichever your preference.

Do you offer group shoots?

If you would like to make the most of a location by booking a shoot date with a friend, I do offer a discounted rate for two to three people shooting together. Due to time restraints, this is not possible for a short 2.5hr shoot unless you're shooting all images together. Please get in touch with what you have in mind and we can work together to arrange a custom package that will ensure everyone involved gets their fair share of time and images, with a bespoke group booking rate.

Can I bring a friend/partner?

I would generally advise against this, as oftentimes people think it will make them feel more comfortable but actually, they tend to feel a little awkward when it comes to posing and being their true selves in front of the camera if there's someone they know watching them.

However, if you truly feel that having someone with you will improve and not hinder your shoot experience, I am happy for you to bring one female friend along with you. I will only allow male partners to be present for maternity or outdoor lifestyle/editorial shoots.
